Hossein
Zarei, P.Eng., M.A.Sc., As a Professional Engineer in Ontario,
I have over 8 years of academic and practical professional experience in
the fields of Traffic/Road Safety Engineering and Transportation
Planning. I graduated from University of Toronto with Master of Applied
Science degree in Transportation Engineering in 2007 and for the last
three years, I have been working as a Road Safety Engineer with AECOM
Canada. My recent work includes several interesting and comprehensive
traffic and road safety engineering projects through my involvement in
network screening, before-and-after road / rail safety studies, and road
safety audits along with transportation planning (including public
transit planning and transportation demand management strategies) and
Environmental Assessment (EA) studies. To name a few, I had the
opportunity to have a major role in several road safety projects such as
“International Road Safety Engineering Countermeasures and Their
Applications in the Canadian Context” for which I served as the main
author of the final report, and also another project called “Pedestrian
Safety at Rail-Road Grade Crossings” for Transport Canada. In addition
to active membership in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE),
I volunteer to Road Safety Committee of Ontario (ROSCO) through which I
have the opportunity to contribute towards enhancing the level of safety
on the Provincial transportation network with respect to all road users
and become familiar with well-respected professionals from both public
and private sectors. I am very excited and looking forward to become a member of the ITE Toronto Section Executive, as I believe that the ITE Toronto Section provides each of us with great opportunities to network, learn, share and render service that is of benefit to the others in transportation engineering profession. My intent is to assist ITE Toronto Section to the best of my ability and in my capacity as either the “membership coordinator” or the “activities coordinator” in 2011 and also to continue and expand this involvement in the following years. Finally I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all in advance for putting your trust in me. |
